Prestbury Council Candidate
Adrian Becker
I’m a retired town planner, having led a long career in the manufacturing industry alongside trade union activity and community organising.
I’m originally from Bristol, but I’ve lived in Cheltenham for over twenty years. I’ve routinely held our borough and county councils to account, attending meetings and asking questions to ensure we’re having the right conversations about our town’s needs.
We deserve decent universal services that are free at the time we need them, not services sold for private profit and delivered by a postcode lottery. Through the pandemic and geopolitical instability, we face significant risk of worker and citizens’ rights being eroded in the name of industry, and the Greens are working to make sure we’re protecting people alongside their environment.
The UK is one of the wealthiest nations on earth, and we can choose to pay for decent public services. As a highly qualified town planner, I want to push not only for better quality housing and better local facilities, but strong environmental protections too, to keep it a liveable and enjoyable part of Cheltenham Borough.
