We call on Cheltenham Borough Council to commit Cheltenham to becoming a UNICEF Child Friendly City.
By adopting this UNICEF scheme, already being trialled in progressive councils in the UK, the council will work towards delivery of more play space, safer roads, cleaner and greener neighbourhoods, cycle infrastructure, better education, and child safety – all areas which will benefit families and communities in our town.
The Green Party's Cheltenham councillors Wendy Flynn and Tabi Joy have proposed the Council adopt this measure but so far the Liberal Democrats have refused to back it.
